Dr. Sneha Jacob, M.D, M.S., is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Rutgers University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) as well as an HIV specialist with a background in Internal Medicine. She received her B.A. in Psychology at Yale University and her Masters in Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She joined the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Eric B. Chandler Federally Qualified Health Center in August 2012 as Director of HIV Clinical Services. She provides direct care of uninsured and publicly insured HIV patients as well as supervision of the FQHC’s state and federally funded HIV treatment and prevention services. She also oversees the HIV clinical training of RWJMS infectious disease fellows, internal medicine residents, family medicine residents, and medical students. Dr. Jacob is a member of the RWJMS South Asian Total Health Initiative (SATHI) Faculty Advisory Committee. She is also a Core Faculty Member of the Rutgers Global Health Institute. She has coordinated a large-scale cross-sectional study of attitudes toward HIV testing among South Asian community members and South Asian physicians of central New Jersey. Dr. Jacob has also organized public health initiatives such as an HIV health education radio series for a New Jersey-based South Asian radio station. Her interest in HIV and immigrant communities extends beyond South Asians, and she recently published a study on the delayed diagnosis of HIV/AIDS among Latinx individuals.
