Description

With Dentexion, we assist dentists in objectively diagnosing patients. Dentexion is a cloud platform where the dentist can upload 3D images of patients and have the images automatically analysed. The system will highlight problematic areas to the dentist such that they, in a collaborative manner, can diagnose the patient. Our first offering is an automatic system to assist in diagnosing periodontal disease.Tooth loss is correlated with several health diseases. Losing teeth means a reduced quality of life and often a shorter lifespan. The number one cause of tooth loss among adults is periodontal disease. New studies have shown that oral infections have increasing potential risks of developing diseases like cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and colorectal cancer, diabetes and insulin resistance and many more. Therefore, controlling infections in the periodontal tissues is central in today's dental work. While the treatment is simple in the early stage of periodontal disease, it often moves into a chronicle stage if not addressed early on, which requires frequent professional cleaning. If still not addressed, the patient will lose their tooth, and the disease will progress. The current diagnostic procedure with a dental probe is highly subjective as the measure can vary based on the probe's angle, position and force. Patients often report it as uncomfortable or even painful during the diagnosis. The diagnosis is rarely completed because of the timing aspect, where the complete diagnosis takes approximately 20 minutes. Generally, screening patients with the current diagnostic method is, therefore not feasible. With Dentexion, the dentist/assistant will instead take 3D images of the patient from where we can extract information about the roots of the individual teeth, the bone morphology and at what level the teeth intersect the gingiva. With this information, we can extract the needed periodontal diagnostics measures automatically. Our platform's API can be directly integrated into existing cloud-based dental software systems. We use a standard software-as-a-service (SaaS) revenue model with a payment per analysis.
