The Chrysler Herbarium at Rutgers University is not only the largest herbarium in New Jersey, but also the single internationally recognized herbarium left in the state. It includes important local collections of plants, algae, fungi, and lichens. It is also the home base for the Flora of New Jersey project, run by volunteers that are working to produce the first flora for New Jersey. The herbarium is suffering from lack of funds and staff, and we are running a fundraising and awareness campaign to highlight its unique and critical value to both New Jersey citizens and scientists worldwide.
