Ir-4 Quality Assurance And Ornamental Horticulture Research Activities

Description

For the past 7 years, USDA-ARS has provided financial support to IR-4 Headquarters (Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey), North Central regional office (Michigan State University), Southern regional office (University of Florida) and the Western regional office (University of California) to supplement the required travel expenses and salaries, wages and fringe benefit costs of Quality Assurance personnel. Quality Assurance monitoring requires QAU personnel from the IR-4 Headquarters and Regional Offices to travel to USDA-ARS field test sites and analytical testing laboratories to audit study conduct procedures; facility equipment, personnel and procedures, data generated at USDA-ARS field test sites, and the final reports to assure compliance with the IR-4 protocol and the GLP requirements. For the past 4 years USDA-ARS has provided support to the Rutgers Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center as an IR-4 Ornamental Horticulture Research Center to conduct research to meet growers' needs for pest management tools. The data is used by the crop protection companies to support EPA approved registrations of chemicals and biological agents which protects crops enabling the public to purchase high quality ornamental horticulture plants at reasonable prices.
