Understanding the molecular basis of schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and major depressive disorders

Project Details

Description

Psychiatric disorders occur in individuals who inherit a predisposition to develop the disorder in their genes after they encounter as yet unknown environmental triggers that then bring about changes in gene expression in the brain. This application will identify changes in gene expression in the brains of people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and major depressive disorders and then seek to understand how they may cause the defining symptoms of those disorders.
