Abstract
4-Aminobutyrate transaminase, a pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent mitochondrial enzyme, is responsible for the degradation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, into succinic semialdehyde.
