Abstract
Describes a pattern recognition model, which has been successfully tested with data obtained from 3,291 patients between 1963-69 for possible thyroid dysfunction, to simulate a doctor's diagnostic process. A computer program implementing this model would free the specialist from routine diagnosis and make his other skills more available to patients in need.
