Abstract
A recent resurgence of interest in Magneto Gas Dynamics (MGD) for local flow control in high speed (supersonic and hypersonic) flows has led to new research results. This paper provides a selective survey of recent computational and experimental results for local flow control in two specific applications - reduction of viscous drag and heat transfer for supersonic flow over a flat plate in the absence of an external pressure gradient, and flow control for high speed inlets. Suggestions for future research are discussed.
