A Vlasov beam element

Abstract

A finite element for the analysis of thin-walled open section beam structures is presented. The element is based on Vlasov's beam theory. In linear analyses the element is very effective since it does not require the use of numerical integration and only one element can exactly model simple cases of nonuniform torsion.
