Abstract

Empirical research on the diffusion of information technologies (IT) has focused on business sectors, and occasionally on government sectors. Much less is known about the state of (IT) diffusion in the private, non-profit sector, which includes social service providers, cultural and arts organizations, and community development agencies. In this paper we present an empirical study of non-profit organizations. This study examines the adoption and use of IT in this sector, and measure the association of organizational characteristics such as size, structure, and sponsorship, with the level of IT diffusion.
