An example for teaching CFD in compressible flow

Abstract

The concepts of accuracy, consistency, stability and convergence are presented in the context of one-dimensional compressible inviscid flow. The specific example is the propagation of an initially sinusoidal disturbance. A family of simple discretizations are developed to illustrate the concepts.
