Abstract

In addressing the impact of the nursing shortage on orthopaedics, the Executive Board of NAON charged Orthopaedic Nursing with the task of investigating creative alternatives in recruitment, retention, and patient care delivery models. This is the first endeavor toward bringing you some new ideas. NAON does not endorse a particular program, but challenges you to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the strategies presented. It is nursing’s responsibility to solve its own shortage. We hope these investigations will spark your creativity in responding to the challenges of today’s nursing crisis.
