abstract = "This paper presents the design and implementation of a scheme for accurate measurement of network bandwidth in xDSL networks, including asymmetric upstream and downstream cases. A stepwise algorithm is designed to minimize the effect on the measurements of ATM traffic shaping for ABR and UBR service classes in xDSL deployments. The accuracy of the algorithm is achieved by implementing an original traffic generator with stable performance. Evaluation experiments have demonstrated that the algorithm can achieve accurate bandwidth measurement in xDSL networks.",
