Abstract
The legal issues related to the rights of downloading business by controlling the format in the online music market are discussed. Companies are planning to couple format with player for the better output in the online music business. Apple and Real Networks possess business models which provide customers with consistent, well-integrated systems for both buying and playing music. The experts points that a tied format would lead to less choice, higher prices and consumer resistance, which in return would create a smaller market with large profit margins.
