Abstract

Bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, and pharmacogenetics describe some of the most promising directions for achieving breakthroughs in 21st century medicine. Presently they are growing by leaps and bounds as disciplines only loosely related to medical informatics. This presents a number of interesting opportunities and challenges as the implications of bioinformatics for developing molecular medicine come into better focus.
