The infostations concept is introduced as a system approach that provide isolated pockets of high bandwidth connectivity for future data and messaging services. Infostations that create isolated areas of high bandwidth radio transmission represent a new approach to delivering information to wireless terminals. The challenges in transceiver design and radio resource management are presented in the context of an infostation setting.
