Abstract

Climate change and variability has serious implications for the electric power sector. Increasing temperatures, decreasing freshwater availability, increased incidence of extreme storm events and periodic coastal flooding is expected to affect the ability to generate, transmit and distribute electrical energy to end-customers. Recent advancements in climate data projections have opened up the possibility of incorporating climate data in power systems planning.
