Complications and Management of diabetic vitrectomy

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Potential complications after vitrectomy for complications of diabetic retinopathy are numerous and involve all components of the eye and periocular tissues. They also can involve the systemic health of the patient including severe metabolic disequilibrium and death. Good outcomes can be achieved by avoidance of complications through anticipatory intraand postoperative decisionmaking and anticipation, early identification, and appropriately aggressive treatment of postoperative complications. Each of the potential complications and their management are considered in detail.
