Abstract

The creation of software support is a vital component to the teaching of an integrated core of engineering science courses, featuring improved design and economics content. This software furnishes students with a hypertext engineering economics tutorial that includes a discussion on an effective design that was initiated as a student project. The cost estimating software supervises students through a spreadsheet-based design procedure for shell and tube heat exchangers. Computer based tools have significance in facilitating and depicting design economics.
