Abstract

Applying the Practice in Context (PiC) framework allowed our contributors to share cases in a way that permits us to identify themes inherent in social work practice in health settings. It also let them reflect on often overlooked contextual aspects of practice decisions. We believe the PiC framework helps social workers identify explicitly the constraints and possibilities of context and recognize how it influences decisions. By seeing how these seasoned social workers made practice decisions in the cases they presented here, we may infer something akin to best practices in social work in health care.
