Creep mechanism for metal single crystals

Abstract

A creep mechanism for metal single crystals, called the mechanism of glide for congruent climb, is presented. This mechanism is consistent with the hardening mechanism in metal single crystals. This mechanism correctly predicts the transition from a linear creep rate to a power law. Predictions of the theory along with experimental results are presented.
