Abstract

The circuit design and implementation of a flexible iontophoretic device, which synthesizes and emits several iontophoretic waveforms, are discussed. A circuit diagram of the constant-current iontophoretic device is presented. It is shown that DC, monophasic rectangular pulse, and monophasic trapezoidal constant-current iontophoresis offer a safe and effective means of enhanced transdermal drug delivery. Autoregulated control of blood pressure using simple feedback techniques is not possible with iontophoretic delivery of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.
