Abstract

We followed 4 patients with Parkinson's disease and severe, intermittent, drenching sweats. One patient was studied with serial plasma levodopa levels and simultaneous clinical examinations. She was observed during a severe sweating episode; this was associated with subtherapeutic plasma levodopa levels (low dopa state). All 4 patients' sweats responded favourably to the institution of agonist therapy. Drenching sweats should be considered part of the spectrum of off‐period levodopa‐related fluctuations in Parkinson's disease.
