A method is developed for analyzing the nonlinearly coupled electromechanical behavior of ceramics. Utilizing Green's function, the method gives insight into the sensitivity of the effective electrostrictive coefficients of the ceramics on the constituent single crystal constants and microstructure. The resulting simple, explicit effective-medium-like approximate formulas for the isotropic ceramics of cubic crystallites are easily used for calculating the ceramic electrostrictive coefficients from the other crystal constants and porosity.
