Abstract

In this paper we describe an intelligent tutoring system called HYDRIVE (Hydraulics Interactive Video Experience). Several novel approaches to intelligent tutoring underlie the rationale for HYDRIVE. The reasoning component of the system makes extensive use of a hierarchical knowledge representation. Reasoning within the system is accomplished using a logic-based approach and is linked to a highly interactive interface using multimedia.
