Generalized GDH sum and spin structure of 3he and neutron

Abstract

The detailed study of the GDH sum rule and the spin structure of the nucleon as a function of Q2 will enrich our understanding of the internal structure of the nucleon. We have taken the first steps in the study of the transition region for the neutron by measuring spin dependent cross sections and asymmetries for 3He→(e, e′). Our data have lower Q2, and significantly improved statistical precision, over previous higher Q2 data. Detailed analysis of the systematic errors is in progress, and final results will be available shortly. An extension to even smaller Q2 ranges and higher energies is expected soon at Jefferson Lab[11].
