Grain oriented glass-Ceramics: New liaterials for hydrophone applicaticns

Abstract

Grain oriented glass-ceramic soffres noite (Ba2TiSi208) and its modifications Sr2TiSi208 and Ba2TiGe208 have been prepared byre crystallizing glasses in a temperature gradimt. Piezo electric voltage coefficients g33 and hydrostatic voltage coefficient & of these glass-ceramics are comparable to those of PVF2 and an order of magnitude higher than the corresponding values of PZT. These glass-ceramics seem to be attractive candidate materials for hydrophones and several piezo electric devices. Hydrostatic piezo electric properties of Ba2TiSi208 and Ba2TiGe208 single crystals are also reported.
