Growth of low-loss, single-crystal YAG fiber optics

Abstract

Single-crystal YAG fibers have been grown by the laser heated pedestal growth technique with losses as low as 0.3 dB/m at 1.06 μm. Scattering losses comprise about 30% of the total loss.
