Abstract

The choice among the multiple available data collection strategies and pharmacoepidemiologic resources should depend primarily on the research question to be addressed, considered along with the large number of advantages and limitations of each data resource and approach relative to particular study requirements. This chapter compares the characteristics of several important pharmacoepidemiologic data resources, and lists key characteristics of research questions and how these impact on the choice of pharmacoepidemiologic data resources.
