HRT and breast cancer: Counseling the patient about risks vs. benefits

Abstract

Unfounded fears about an increased risk of breast cancer keep many women from starting or staying with HRT regimens. Clinicians must be prepared to outline the results of relevant clinical studies for their patients, counseling them that for the majority of postmenopausal women, HRT's benefits far outweigh the risks.
