Abstract
While malignant tumors of the scapula are uncommon, reconstruction after resections often impair shoulder motion. Scapular resection that includes the glenoid or supraspinatus may be reconstructed with a scapular endoprosthesis. The goal of the procedure is adequate resection of the tumor, as well as the preservation of as much shoulder function that is possible. The advantage of an endoprosthetic scapular replacement includes higher functional Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) scores and range of motion. The reconstruction involves reproducing the glenohumeral joint and soft tissue envelope.
