Abstract

A 79-year-old man with dark stools underwent gastrointestinal scintigraphy with Tc-99m-labeled erythrocytes. Although no bleeding site was identified during the 60-minute study, a focus of persistent radioactive accumulation was observed throughout the study in the distal abdominal aorta. Clinical follow-up revealed that this focus was a previously undiagnosed abdominal aortic aneurysm.
