Abstract

• A non-linear dependence of powder properties on composition • Strongly dependent on the mixture diameter size ratio • Random packing structure • Dramatic increase in bulk and tapped density of binary mixtures of AA:CL, SL:CL for fractions of 50% and 70% CL • Powder processing operations are based on volumetric filling/displacement • Non linear mixture rules need to be developed for a rational design, optimization, scale-up and control of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
