Abstract

This paper presents application of an inversion-based feedforward control methodology for active noise control. To the best of authors knowledge this work constitutes the first attempt for applying preview-based techniques to broadband active noise reduction. Broadband active noise reduction has applications in numerous areas, from HVAC ducts to aircraft cabins. However, achieving effective broadband active noise reduction is a very challenging problem and it continues to be an ongoing topic of research interests. This paper presents the development of preview-based approach to acoustic noise control with some preliminary simulation and experimental results. The results are very promising, which warrants further research to bring the subject methodology to wide spread acceptance.
