Large intragrain magnetoresistance in the double perovskite BaLaMnMoO6

BaLaMnMoO6 was prepared in polycrystalline form by a solid-state technique. The sample is ferrimagnetic with Tc∼145 K, and a transition to spin-glass-type behavior is observed at 25 K at an applied magnetic field below 0.5 Tesla. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity, from 5 to 300 K, indicates semiconducting behavior with room temperature resistivity, ρRT∼1.06 Ω.cm, and is well described by Mott's law for variable-range hopping conduction with large T0 values. A large intragrain MR effect, -22% in a field of 5 Tesla at 5 K, was observed below 25 K.
