Abstract
Small neutrino masses may arise from a dimension-six operator after quark chiral flavor symmetry is broken by the quark condensate. This requires the introduction of an additional symmetry which keeps the neutrinos and up quark massless after electroweak symmetry breaking. Simple models implementing this idea for Dirac and Majorana masses are presented.
