We measured the specific heat of a 2-D electron crystal above liquid Helium. For electronic temperatures Te≤0.8Tm, where Tm is the melting temperature, we found that the specific heat fits well a Debye model with renormalized elastic constants. At melting we observed no jump in the specific heat, indicating that the transition is of continuous order, in accord with the Kosterlitz-Thouless model of melting via unbinding of dislocations.
