Abstract

This chapter provides an introduction to critical research on medicine and the psy disciplines in International Relations (IR) and security studies. The study of health and medicine is an emergent field of inquiry in IR. My research has focused particularly on psychology and psychiatry, and on how they function as technologies of security in multiple sites including: Western militaries, post-conflict situations, war zones, and detention facilities.
