title = "Metatarsal geometry and the indication for stress fractures",
abstract = "The present study analyzes the effect of changes in the geometry of the metatarsals (MT) on the incidence of MT stress fractures. Patient specific MT geometries were extracted from x-rays. Stresses in MT's were computed using bending theory and compared with the incidence for stress fractures. Results showed that MT cross-sectional area plays a profound role in stress fracture incidence.",
