New transparent optical monitoring of the eye and ber using asynchronous under-sampling of the signal

Abstract

We experimentally validated a new transparent monitoring method based on asynchronous under-sampling enabling eye-diagram reconstruction and BER estimation. It gives very accurate BER estimation in presence of chromatic dispersion and non-linear effects without requiring knowledge of the bit rate.
