N2 - We report the first direct measurement of hidden Fermi surface nesting in a two dimensional conductor. The system studied was N a0.9Mo6O17, and the measured Fermi surface consists of electron and hole pockets that can be combined to form sets of pseudo-one-dimensional Fermi surfaces, exhibiting the nesting necessary to drive a Peierls transition to a charge density wave state. The observed nesting vector is shown to be in excellent agreement with theory.
