Optimal trade-off in Inversion-Based output tracking: CTOL aircraft example

Abstract

System-Inversion-Based technique can be used to achieve high-accuracy output tracking. However, exact-inversion can lead to unacceptably-large inputs for poorly chosen output trajectory. In this paper, we propose an optimal-inversion technique for the nonlinear system to significantly reduce the amplitude of the inputs, by slightly redesigning the desired output trajectory. The optimalinverse input-state trajectories is found by using its linearized model and the linearization error is removed by an iteration process. A CTOL example is used to illustrate our method throughout the paper.
