Abstract

In folk medicine a large number of plants are claimed to be antidotes to snake venoms. In this review the general methodology adapted in the investigations of such plants to evaluate their antisnake venom activity is described followed by the details of the pharmacological and clinical studies of various plant extracts and their active principles against different snake venoms.
