Abstract

This work studied the polyelectrolyte behavior of an ionomer (lightly sulfonated polystyrene) in a polar solvent (DMF) by viscosity and light scattering measurements. The instrument used (a Chromatix KMX-6) is designed for precise measurement of the scattered intensity at low angles. Therefore, reliable light scattering data for polyelectrolyte behavior in the absence of salts can be obtained.
