Abstract

'Issues in feeding the terminally ill adult' identifies some of the ethical, legal, medical, and nutrition issues to be considered when deciding to provide or forego nutrition support. The primary consideration in any decision must be the wishes of the competent, informed patient or his/her surrogate decision maker. Although each situation must be resolved individually, the paper does provide some considerations and questions to assist in developing an appropriate Nutrition Care Plan.
