Abstract

A study of proton hole states in neutron rich nuclei near A=100 has been carried out using the (t,) reaction. Targets of Ru104 and Pd110 were bombarded with a beam of 17 MeV polarized tritons and the reaction particles detected in a quadrupole-three-dipole spectrometer. Only the decays of the residual nuclei, Tc103 and Rh109, have been previously observed. The results indicate a smooth trend with Z of the proton single particle states observed in this region, except for Tc103. Examination of this nucleus indicates a strong tendency towards deformation. NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ru104, Pd110(t,), E=17 MeV; measured (), Ay. DWBA analysis. Tc103, Rh109 mass measurement.
