Abstract

A study of teletext transmission over multipath channels is reported. Computer simulated results are used to measure the performance of various Nyquist pulses. An optimal pulse shape for teletext transmission is obtained. The multipath channel parameters are modelled as random variables. A simple multipath cancellation shceme in which the estimated delay signal is subtracted from the received signial using a feedback system is developed. The amount of delay is initialized to the estimated value from a matched-filter-estimator. The delay is then adaptively adjusted to maximize the eye opening. A significant gain in signal performance is found to be obtainable from this equalizer.
