Abstract
Rathke’s cleft cysts and arachnoid cysts are two lesions among many that can arise in the sellar region. While in most cases they are asymptomatic and only require conservative management, they can exert mass effect on the pituitary gland or on the optic apparatus to cause endocrine and visual dysfunction. In this chapter, we discuss how to preoperatively manage these patients, the key imaging findings for these lesions, the surgical approaches and techniques available to treat them, and their clinical outcomes.
