Abstract
This review discusses current established methods for isolating and culturing protoplasts of conifer forest trees. The nature of the starting materials from which conifer protoplasts are isolated, isolation techniques and culture procedures are reviewed. The potential roles of protoplasts in the establishing new procedures in tree breeding and forest biotechnology are discussed.
