Abstract

Normal faults and associated folds are common in continental rifts. Fault dip, stratal dip within fault blocks, fault displacement, and fold position and size vary considerably. Synthetic seismic reflection profiles show how each of these structural variables, as well as rock-velocity distribution, influence the seismic expression of rift structures.
